EMERGENCY MEDICAL
TECHNICIAN / PARAMEDIC (DRIVER)
THE POSITION: Under general supervision, perform work
involving treatment and transportation of the sick and injured. Responds
to private calls, renders medical care, provides ambulance transportation,
and responds to non-emergency medical request for Inter-facility
transportation. Participates in station, vehicle and equipment maintenance
activities.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
-
High School Diploma or GED Certificate.
-
Ability to read, write and speak English clearly and fluently.
-
At least twenty (20) years of age upon appointment.
-
Valid California "Class C" Driver's License.
-
Two years of "Class C" driving experience.
-
Valid California DMV Ambulance Driver's Certificate (upon
appointment).
-
Valid California EMT-1 Certification Card.
-
Los
Angeles County Expanded Scope and 4 Hours AED.
-
Valid AHA or ARC BLS Provider CPR Card.
-
Current
California DMV DOT Medical Examination Report and Card.
-
Acceptable California DMV "H-6" driving record printout.
-
Valid City of Los Angeles Ambulance Driver/Attendant permit (upon
appointment).

Paramedic:
Same as above, plus valid California Paramedic Certification Card and
Los Angeles County Paramedic Certification card.
SELECTION PROCEDURE: May include, but not limited to, the

AMBULANCE
DISPATCHER
THE POSITION:
Ambulance dispatchers will be responsible for: answering phones and taking
orders for ambulance transportation; accurately entering call information
using Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) workstations; prioritizing and
assigning calls to appropriate units; tracking units on GPS-based
Automatic Vehicle Locator map; and updating and communicating effectively
with ambulance crews. Dispatchers will also keep clients updated regarding
call status, maintain good customer relations and assist in accomplishing
organizational goals and objectives.
REQUIREMENTS:
-
Must
be detail-oriented and possess ability to multitask.

Ability to read, write and speak English clearly and fluently.
-
Able
to provide superior customer service.
-
Have
good phone, computer, leadership and time-management skills.
-
Must
be Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) or Emergency Medical Dispatcher
(EMD) certified upon employment.
-
Experience
with Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) and GPS-based Automatic Vehicle
Locator (AVL) a plus.

REGISTERED
NURSE
MINIMUM
REQUIREMENTS:
-
At least two years of
ER/ICU/CCU experience within the previous 18months prior to employment as a transport nurse.
-
A minimum of 96 hours of continuous
ICU/CCU or emergency department experience per year or complete 30 CE contact hours (in addition to the BRN requirement of 30 CE) every 2 years in an area relevant to their clinical setting for part time transport nurses (working less than 32 hours per week as a transport nurse).
-
Be current in ACLS and if participating in pediatric transport, be current in PALS.
-
Recommendation: Certified Emergency Nurse
(CEN), Critical Care Registered Nurse (CCRN), and or Mobile Intensive Care Nurse
(MICN)
-
Have the ability to work per-diem on call with own transportation.
-
Have the ability to respond to the Main Los Angeles Office within 30 - 45 minutes.
-
Pass nursing competency annually.
-
Full time transport nurses in addition to BRN requirement of 30 CE will complete 30
CE contact hours every two years in an area relevant to their clinical setting.

|
RESPIRATORY
CARE PRACTITIONER
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
-
Have a minimum of two years respiratory care experience in an Acute care or respiratory care hospital, within 18 months prior to employment as a transport practitioner.
-
Complete 96 hours of documented critical care experience per year, or complete an additional 15 CE hours (in addition to the RCP licensure requirement of 15 CE) every two years in an area relevant to their clinical setting for part time transport RCPs (working less than 32 hours per week as a transport
RCP).
-
Be current in ACLS and if participating in pediatric transport, be current in PALS.
-
Have the ability to work per-diem on call with own transportation.
-
Have the ability to respond to the Main Los Angeles Office within 30 - 45 minutes.
-
Full time transport RT’s will complete 15 CE contact hours (in addition to the RCP licensure requirement of 15 CEs) every two years in an area relevant to their clinical setting. Ninety six hours of documented acute/respiratory care is highly recommended.
